7/30/2009 - Two Arrested in Brooks County Homicide
   
Two individuals were arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection to the death of 62 year-old Alberto Lemus. Lemus was shot in a home invasion and armed robbery between 11:00 p.m. Saturday evening and 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning at his Monument Church Road residence in Brooks County.

Arrested were 29-year-old Cornell Stephens and 24-year-old Lamar Jones both of Quitman. Both individuals have been charged with Murder Party to the Commission of a Crime with additional charges pending, stated Sheriff Mike Dewey.

The combined efforts of the Brooks County Sheriffs Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the Quitman Police Department resulted in the solving of this case. I commend the Officers and Investigators for the teamwork that was exhibited during this investigation, Sheriff Dewey further stated.


Additional suspects sought: A warrant for Murder has been issued for 24-year-old Derrick Styles and his brother, Michael Styles age 26, for Murder Party to the Commission of the Crime in the death of Mr. Lemus. These individuals are believed to be riding in a Four Door Black Avalon with Georgia tag number WF31Z0. Both Suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

A BOLO (Be on the Lookout For) has been issued to Law Enforcement Agencies in Georgia and surrounding states. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Styles are asked to call Law Enforcement immediately.
