10/1/2009 - Major narcotics dealer arrested in Brooks
   
The arrest of two individuals in Brooks County on Thursday, October 1st completed a year long investigation of a local Brooks County man and his wife for drug trafficking. At approximately 8:30 p.m. Deputies from the Brooks County Sheriffs Office, Officers from the Quitman Police Department, Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Lowndes County Sheriffs Office K-9 Unit executed a search warrant on an Adel Highway residence in Brooks County, stated Sheriff Mike Dewey.
A search of the house produced cocaine and marijuana with a street value of $10,000, along with scales and other items that indicated there was drug distribution from the residence. A Rossi 38 special was also recovered, Sheriff Dewey further stated. Also seized in conjunction with the investigation was approximately $80,000 in cash and 6 vehicles a 1996 Ford F150 Extended Cab; a 1999 Taurus; a 1997 Taurus; 1996 Honda Accord; a 1966 Ford Galaxy 500 and a 2003 Cadillac CTS.
Arrested was Ricky Tyrone Giddens, age 40 charged with Possession, Manufacturing and Distribution of Dangerous Drugs; Sale of Controlled Substances; Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime; Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Obstruction. He is being held without bond in the Brooks County Jail. Giddens wife Lydia Renee Giddens, age 38, was arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute and was released on a $10,000 bond. Additional arrests are expected in this case.
